Six criminals come together to celebrate their latest heist coordinated by the mysterious Azeban. They share their stories about how they were recruited and what they were tasked to do. Unbeknownst, a Special Forces Unit looks on and waits for the mysterious leader to arrive.
When will Azeban appear, or are they there already?

Zoe Burke
Zoe Burke (she/they) is a Santa Fe based intimacy professional, stage director, theatre educator, and occasional actress of unenrolled Cherokee and Weapemeoc descent. Past credits include 1 Henry 4, Measure for Measure, Macbeth and Twelfth Night (ISC Santa Fe), As You Like It (Santa Fe Classic Theatre), and Much Ado About Nothing and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Santa Fe Shakespeare Society). She currently serves as the Associate Artistic Director of ISC Santa Fe, is the resident intimacy director at the Santa Fe Playhouse, and teaches performing arts at Carlos F Vigil Middle School in Española.

Frank Ballejos
Frank is extremely excited to be performing as Colby in Who Is Azeban. This is his first production at, Institute of American Indian Arts. Frank’s acting career started way back in Highschool and has been on again, off again until 2019. Frank graduated in 2022 from the UNM Theater and Dance Department with a BA in Theater. There he played Alfonso Frankenstein (Frankenstein, RT) and Frank/Juliette (Last Dream, X), but you may remember him as Father Dupin/Gypsy (Hunchback of Notre Dame, MTS) or Pedro {Man of La Mancha, MTS). He is formerly from California, but now resides in Mountainair, NM

Tania Balderas
Tania is an actress, director, dramaturg, and theater scholar. She holds a BA in Theater Arts from NMSU, an MA in Literature from L’université de Lausanne, and a PhD in English Literature from UNM. She has performed in various English and Spanish-language plays in the US-Mexico borderlands, including her roles as Lady Anne in Richard III, la Mujer de Leonardo in Bodas de Sangre, Callie in Stop, Kiss, and Edith in Ballerina. As a Research Associate at the School for Advanced Research, she is working on a book project, Resistance Narratives: Storytelling of Transnational Insurgencies in Cold War US and Mexico, which explores transnational solidarities through a comparative and relational analysis of Teatro Chicano plays and memoirs, Red Power autobiographies, Mexican Cold War testimonial novels, and oral histories.

Stanley Shunkamolah
Stanley Shunkamolah is a Native American of Kiowa, Osage, Pawnee, and Comanche decent. Originally from Oklahoma, he resides in Albuquerque NM. Stanley began acting at a young age and was soon involved in high school and community theater performances as well as college and professional productions. He currently works in the film industry here in Albuquerque and has been focusing his creative abilities on filmmaking more than acting in the intervening years. However, acting and performing on stage have always been great passions of his and he feels that it is the responsibility of all Native American talents, performers, filmmakers, etc… like himself to better represent Native American peoples and their stories.

Isabel Contreras
Isabel Contreras is Mniconjou Lakota from the Cheyenne River Tribe and is also Filipino. Isabel grew up in Sheffield Lake, Ohio and studied theatre at Bowling Green State University. She then transferred and recently graduated from The Institute of American Indian Arts with her B.F.A in Performing Arts. She has performed in plays such as Twilight Los Angeles 1992, Radio Days, Blue Jay’s Canoe, A Tuna Christmas and has been in multiple short films. Isabel has also won three awards at the 2024 AIHEC in Minneapolis and at the 2025 AIHEC in Rapid City in Speech and the One Act Play competitions. Her art extends into music where she is a singer and can play trombone, saxophone, and guitar. Along with this Isabel performs as a drag queen by the name Natti Lyte and creates performance art through this persona to discuss race, gender, politics, culture, and other various topics.

Hannah Machado (Parker) is a multi-hyphenate actor who has worked with nearly every theatre in town. Between Shakespeare and musicals, Hannah loves working on original scripts. This time last year they premiered their first original script, Three Cats Cafe, quickly followed by a sample of their second script, That I Were A Man. Earlier this year they played Genafra in the premiere of Terranis by Sydney Egan at Open Jar Studios in NYC. They are so happy to start the 2026 season with original work!

Jonah Winn-Lenetsky
Jonah Winn-Lenetsky is an actor, director and scholar originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has a Ph.D. and master’s degree in Theatre from the University of Minnesota. He is currently an Associate Professor of Performing Arts at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe New Mexico. Jonah’s work explores threats to the environment and how communities can use performance to conceptualize and address ecosystems. He is also an actor and director whose plays have been produced throughout the US and internationally. Most recently he has directed a production of Indian Radio Days by Leanne Howe and Roxie Gordon at the Institute of American Indian Arts.

E. Salvador Chapman
E. Salvador Chapman was born in El Salvador to the Indigenous Pipil Tribe, the last of the Aztecs. He was adopted and grew up in NH making him love the area and the Indigenous Lands and People. His work has won 1st place at the 2023 AIHEC competition and also awarded top prize for Bard Universities 2023 World Climate Teach-In program. He focuses on empowering Native American performers with powerful stories and raising awareness of culturally sensitive issues. E. Salvador has a passion for Musical Theater and hopes to add more Native Musical content to modern theater.

Krys Applegate
Krys Applegate is a multidisciplinary artist based in Santa Fe, working across painting, acting, and fabrication. Originally from Lubbock, Texas, he remains active in both creative communities. His theatrical credits include Something Rotten and The 2025 Melodrama with Santa Fe Playhouse, as well as Rent, Legally Blonde, and new work readings with the Wallace Theater.
